"A wise man foresees evil and hides himself, But the fool passes on, and is punished" (Prov. 22:3). The following ten states not only have no building codes, allow you to disconnect for municipal systems, and have low property taxes, but they are considered survivable in case of nuclear war (outside fallout wind patterns and blast radius). They also have low risk of natural disasters. Furthermore, they protect your Constitutional carry status as a Second Amendment Sanctuary state: Tennesee (rural counties have no building codes), Missouri (the Ozarks have no building codes), Arkansas (Ozarks again), Alaska (no building codes outside of the main cities -- Juneau, Fairbanks & Anchorage), Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Vermont, Maine and Idaho are probably your best choices. In survival situations, location is everything. It is how much distance is between you and danger (earthquake, tornado, flood, drought, nuclear fallout). It is what you are allowed to build and own.
