16:1 Then came he to (lunar) Derbe and (solar) Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain (Coma) woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

2 Which was well reported of by the (Gemini) brethren that were at (solar) Lystra and (lunar) Iconium.

3 Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and (lunar crescent) circumcised him because of the (Gemini) (Shammai) Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

4 And as they went through the (solar and lunar) cities, they delivered them the (red radius) decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the (Gemini) apostles and (Orion & Auriga) elders which were at Jerusalem.

5 And so were the (lunar) churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost (Spirit) to preach the word in Asia,

7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

8 And they passing by Mysia came down to (solar) Troas.

9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia (Orion), and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

10 And after he had (lunar eyeball) seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to (red radius) preach the gospel unto them.

11 Therefore loosing from (lunar) Troas, we came with a straight course to (lunar) Samothracia, and the next day to (Solar) Neapolis;

12 And from thence to (lunar) Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days (80 degree days).

13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a (Milky Way) river side, where (Argo) prayer was wont to be made; and we (Gemini) sat down, and spake unto the (Virgo & Coma) women which resorted thither.

The river side was much frequented at the hours of worship for the purpose of ablutions (washings).

"As soon as we came to the god, conveying a man, at that time most miserable, but now blessed and fortunate if ever there was one, we first conveyed him to the sea, and then washed him." (Aristoph. Plut. 652)

"They now to Cephisus their way pursue:
The stream was troubled, but the ford they knew;
With living waters in the fountain bed,
They sprinkle first their garments and their head,
Then took the way which to the temple led." (Ovid Meta. 1:367)

14 And a certain woman named (Virgo) Lydia, a seller of (purple radius) purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose (lunar) heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of (Pollux) Paul.

15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she (Virgo) (red radius) besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my (red radius) house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain (Virgo) damsel possessed with a (Hydra) spirit of divination met us, which brought her (Gemini) masters much (solar gold) gain by (red radius) (lunar crystal ball) soothsaying:

The literal rendering is the spirit of a Python, which Plutarch says was in his day the name for a ventriloquist. See notes on Isaiah 8:19. This damsel appears to have uttered ambiguous prophecies after the manner of the Pythian Apollo; or of the sibyls, concerning whom see notes on 1 Sam. 28:7 and Jer. 20:9.

"The greatest blessings we have spring from madmen, when granted by divine bounty. For the prophetess at Delphi, and the priestesses at Dodona, have, when mad, done many and noble services for Greece, both privately and publicly; but in their sober senses, little or nothing. And if we were to speak of the Sibyl and others, who, employing prophetic inspiration, have correctly predictedmany things to many persons respecting the future, we should be too prolix in relating what is known to every one." (Plat. Phaedr. 22)

"At Cumae, on the coast of Italy, is shown the cave in which the Sibyl uttered her prophecies, living to a great age and preserving her virginity." (Aristotle de mir. ausc.)

"Daphne, the daughter of Tiresias the soothsayer, was not inferior to her father in the art of divination. Being endowed with a wonderful genius, she wrote a great number of oracles in different characters; and it is said that Homer borrowed many of his verses from her. "The Sibyl who came out of Helicon, where she had been fostered by the Muses, said in her verses that she should never cease to prophesy and foretell future events; but that after her death her face would be seen in the moon and her breath, minglded with the air, would pass to and fro continually in prophetic words and voices of oracles prognosticating." 17 The same followed (Orion) Paul and (Gemini) us, and (red radius) cried, saying, These (Gemini) men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of (solar golden) salvation.

18 And this did she many days (295 days). But (Orion) Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same (15 degree) hour.

19 And when her (Gemini) masters (lunar eyeballs) saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught (Gemini) Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the (Cepheus, Orion and Auriga) rulers,

20 And brought them to the (Gemini) magistrates, saying, These (Gemini) men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

22 And the multitude rose up together against them: and the (Gemini) magistrates rent off their (lunar) clothes, and commanded to (red radius scourge) beat them.



23 And when they had laid many (red radius) stripes upon (Gemini, Orion, Auriga) them, they cast them into prison, charging the (Big Dog) jailor to keep them safely:

24 Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their (Gemini) feet fast in the (red radius or solar) stocks.

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and (lunar smiling crescent) (red radius) sang praises unto God: and the (Orion & Auriga) prisoners heard them.

"We shall then become imitators of Socrates, when in a prison we are able to compose hymns of praise." (Epict. 2:6)

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the (lunar) doors were opened, and every one's (red radius) bands were loosed.

"The officious servants hurry him away,
And the poor captive in a dungeon lay:
But whilst the whips and tortures are prepared,
the gates fly open, of themselves unbarred;
At liberty the unfettered captive stands,
And flings the loosened shackles from his hands."

27 And the (Orion) keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and (lunar eyeballs) seeing the (lunar) prison doors open, he drew out his (lunar crescent) sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the (Gemini) prisoners had been fled.

28 But (Pollux) Paul (red radius) cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

29 Then he called for a (solar) light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and (Argo) fell down before (Gemini) Paul and Silas,

30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I (Argo) do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Argo-Mast), and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

32 And they (red radius) spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his (red radius) house.

33 And he took them the same (15 degree) hour of the night, and washed their (red radius) stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

34 And when he had brought them into his house, he set (solar golden) meat before them, and (lunar crescent smiling) rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

35 And when it was (sun on red radius horizon) day, the (Gemini) magistrates sent the (Orion & Auriga) serjeants, saying, Let those (Gemini) men go.

36 And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The (Gemini) magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.

37 But (Orion) Paul said unto them, They have (red radius) beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into (red radius) prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

"To bind a Roman citizen is a misdemeanor; to strike him is a crime; to kill him is next to parricide." (Quintil. 8:4)

38 And the (Gemini) serjeants told these words unto the (Gemini) magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were (Gemini) Romans.

39 And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the (lunar) city.

40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of (Virgo) Lydia: and when they had seen the (Gemini) brethren, they comforted them, and departed.

17:1 Now when they (Gemini) had passed through (lunar) Amphipolis and (lunar) Apollonia, they came to (lunar) Thessalonica, where was a (lunar) synagogue of the Jews:

2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and (red radius) risen again from the (Argo) dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is (Cepheus) Christ.

4 And some of them believed, and consorted with (Gemini) Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude (Orion & Auriga), and of the chief women (Virgo & Coma) not a few.

5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd (Gemini) fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the (Gemini) people.

6 And when they found them not, they drew (Orion) Jason and certain (Gemini) brethren unto the (Orion & Auriga) rulers of the city, (red radius) crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

7 Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

8 And they troubled the (Gemini) people and the (Orion and Auriga) rulers of the city, when they (lunar ears) heard these things.

9 And when they had taken security of (Argo) Jason, and of the (Gemini) other, they let them go.

10 And the brethren immediately sent away (Gemini) Paul and Silas by night unto (solar) Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in (Orion & Auriga) Thessalonica, in that they received the (solar) word with all readiness of mind, and (lunar eyeballs) searched the (solar) scriptures (sun on red radius horizon) daily, whether those things were so.

12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women (Virgo & Coma) which were Greeks, and of men (Gemini & Orion & Auriga), not a few.

13 But when the (Gemini) Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the (solar golden) word of God was preached of (Orion) Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the (Gemini) people.

14 And then immediately the (Gemini) brethren sent away (Argo) Paul to go as it were to the sea: but (Orion) Silas and (Auriga) Timotheus abode there still.

15 And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto (Pollux) Silas and (Castor) Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the (black zodiac) city wholly given to (constellation) idolatry.

17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

18 Then certain philosophers of the (Orion) Epicureans, and of the (Auriga) Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them (Argo) Jesus, and the (red radius) resurrection.

19 And they took him, and brought him unto (Milky Way) Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our (lunar) ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

21 (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to (red radius) tell, or to (lunar ear) hear some new thing.)

22 Then Paul stood in the midst of (Milky Way) Mars' hill, and said, Ye (Gemini) men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar (Ara) with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

"When the Athenians were afflicted by a plague, and the priestesses at Delphi enjoined them to purify their city, Epimenides took some black sheep and some white ones and led them to the Areopagus, and from thence he let them go wherever they chose, having ordered the attendants to follow them, and wherever any one of them lay down, they were to sacrifice them to the god who was the patron of the spot, and so the evil was stayed. Owing to this one may even now find in the different boroughs of the Athenians altars without names, which are a sort of memorial of the propitiation of the gods that then took place." (Diogenes Laertius Epimen. i paragraph 110)

Pausanias adds, "nigh unto it is an altar to unknown gods" (Pausanias v. 412).

24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto (solar) gold, or (lunar) silver, or (black)stone, graven by (zodiac) art and man's device.

30 And the times of this ignorance God (lunar eyeballs) winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness (3026 AD) by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead (31 AD).

32 And when they (lunar ear) heard of the (red radius) resurrection of the (Argo) dead, some (Gemini) (red radius) mocked: and others (Orion & Auriga) said, We will hear (lunar ears) thee again of this matter.

33 So (Orion) Paul departed from among them.

34 Howbeit certain (Gemini) men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a (Virgo) woman named Damaris, and others with them.
