Genesis chapter 27 Star Chart: If 15° equal one hour (360°/24hrs. = 15), then we have a 22° interval of one-and-a-half hours represented.

Clockwise from when Isaac (Canis Major) told Esau (Castor) to "take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy (lunar) quiver and thy (Castor) bow, and go out to the field, and take me some (solar golden) venison" (27:3) till Isaac (Canis Major) prophesied of Esau (Castor) by saying, "by thy (lunar crescent) sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy (Pollux) brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his (lunar crescent) yoke from off thy (solar) neck" (27:40) is one-and-a-half hours or a 22° interval in 1714 B.C.

Clockwise from when "Rebekah (Auriga) spake unto (Pollux) Jacob her son, saying ... Go now to the (Lepus) flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats (Auriga); and I will make them (solar golden) savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth" (27:6-9) till Rebekah said to Jacob, "Behold, thy (Gemini) brother (Castor) Esau, as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to (lunar crescent knife) kill thee. Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; arise, flee thou to Laban my (Gemini) brother to Haran; And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away" (27:42-44) is one-and-a-half hours or a 22° interval in 1714 B.C.

As a review, Abraham was 75 when he entered Canaan (Gen. 12:4) in 1876 B.C. -- 430 years before Israel's exodus from Egypt in 1446 B.C. (Ex. 12:40-41). He received the covenant at this time, making it year zero in the calculation. Isaac was born 25 years later when Abraham was 100 (Gen. 21:5) in 1851 B.C. Isaac was age 60 when Jacob was born (Gen. 25:26) in 1791 B.C. When Jacob was 130, he entered Egypt (Gen. 47:28) in the second year of the famine (45:6) when Joseph was 39 in 1661 B.C. Therefore "Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh" (41:46) in 1670 B.C. at the beginning of the seven years of plenty. "Two full years" before that, the butler-baker incident occurred in 1672 B.C. (41:1). Joseph was "seventeen years old" (37:2) in 1683 B.C. when he was sold into Egypt. Furthermore, Joseph was born in 1700 B.C. when God "opened her (Rachel's) womb" (29:22) and Jacob was age 91. This means that fourteen years before that (29:27-30), Jacob travelled to Padan-Aram in 1714 B.C. when he was 77 (28:1-2). Adding "twenty years" with Laban (31:41) + 7 years when Jacob "erected there an altar" in Shekem (33:18-20) + about one year till "Isaac ... died" (35:27) makes Jacob 105 years old in 1686 when Isaac died at 165 (105 + 60 = 165). In order for Isaac to be 180 when he died (35:28), we must find a gap of 15 years in the chronology somewhere between 31:41 and 35:28. Adding together 25 + 60 + 130 = 215 years sojourning outside Egypt. With the other 215 years inside Egypt, we can construct the 430-year period till 1446 B.C. (see also Josephus' Antiquities 2:15:2). The Exodus in 1446 B.C. was 430 years after Abraham entered Canaan in 1876 B.C. "Now the sojourning (in Canaan and Egypt -- 215 years each) of the children of Israel (which here includes Abraham, Isaac and Jacob -- see footnotes in both the Companion Bible and Jerusalem Bible), who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt" (Ex.12:40-41). Josephus says the same thing: "They left Egypt ... on the fifteenth day of the lunar month (Num. 33:3), four hundred and thirty years after our forefather Abraham came into Canaan" (Ant.2:15:2). Both the Samaritan Pentateuch and Septuagint add "and in Canaan" in verse 40. The Septuagint, quoted by Paul in Galatians, says "the sojourning of the sons of Israel who dwelt in the land of Egypt and Canaan was 430 years" because they dwelt in Canaan before they dwelt in Egypt.

EDOM in Prophecy

27:1 And it came to pass, that when Isaac (Canis Major) was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he (red radius) called Esau (Orion) his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he (Orion) said unto him, Behold, here am I.

The Targum of Jonathan says, this was the fourteenth of Nisan, when Isaac called Esau to him.

2 And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:

3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy (lunar) quiver and thy (Castor) bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;

4 And make me savoury (solar golden) meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I (Canis Major) may eat; that my soul may (red radius) bless thee before I die.

5 And Rebekah (Pollux) heard when Isaac (Canis Major) spake to Esau (Castor) his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt for venison, and to bring it.

6 And Rebekah (Auriga) spake unto Jacob (Pollux) her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father (Canis Major) speak unto Esau (Castor) thy brother, saying,

7 Bring me venison, and make me (solar golden) savoury meat, that I may eat, and (red radius) bless thee before the Lord before my death.

8 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

9 Go now to the flock (Lepus or Ursa Minor), and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats (Auriga); and I will make them (solar golden) savoury meat for thy father (Canis Major), such as he loveth:

10 And thou shalt bring it to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

to whom she knew by the divine oracle the blessing belonged, Genesis 25:23, as well as by virtue of the sale of the birthright to him by his brother, Genesis 25:33, and through Esau's forfeiting of it by marrying with the Canaanites, Genesis 26:34; in these her sentiments she was right, but wrong in the ways and means she took to get it for him.

11 And Jacob (Pollux) said to Rebekah (Auriga) his mother, Behold, Esau (Castor) my brother is a hairy man, and I am a smooth man:

12 My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

13 And his mother (Auriga) said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my (red radius) voice, and go fetch me them.

14 And he went, and fetched, and brought them to his (Auriga) mother: and his mother made (solar golden) savoury meat, such as his (Canis Major) father loved.

15 And Rebekah took (solar golden) goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau (Castor), which were with her in the (red radius tent) house, and put them upon (Pollux) Jacob her younger son:

16 And she (Orion) put the (lunar black) skins of the kids of the goats upon his (Pollux) hands, and upon the smooth of his (solar golden) neck:

17 And she (Auriga) gave the (solar) savoury meat and the (solar) bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son (Orion) Jacob.

18 And he came unto his father (Canis Major), and said, My father: and he said, Here am I; who art thou, my son?

19 And Jacob (Auriga) (red radius) said unto his father (Canis Major), I am Esau thy first born; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my (solar golden) venison, that thy soul may (red radius) bless me.

And Jacob said unto his father, I am Esau thy firstborn,.... Had he only said that he was his firstborn, he might have been excused from lying, because he had bought the birthright of Esau; but when he says, I am Esau, he can by no means be excused; for to say he impersonated Esau will not do; besides, he afterwards says he was his very son Esau, Genesis 27:24,

20 And Isaac (Canis Major) said unto his son (Auriga), How is it that thou hast found it so quickly, my son? And he (Auriga) (red radius) said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me.

21 And Isaac (Orion) said unto Jacob (Pollux), Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou be my very son Esau or not.

22 And Jacob (Pollux) went near unto Isaac (Canis Major) his father; and he felt him (lunar hands), and said, The (red radius) voice is Jacob's voice, but the (lunar) hands are the hands of Esau.

23 And he discerned him not, because his (lunar) hands were hairy, as his brother Esau's hands: so he (red radius) blessed him.

24 And he (Canis Major) said, Art thou my very son Esau? And he (Pollux) said, I am.

25 And he said, Bring it (solar golden meat) near to me, and I will eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought it near to him, and he did eat: and he brought him (red radius) wine and he (lunar cup) drank.

26 And his father Isaac (Canis Major) said unto him (Pollux), Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his (lunar) raiment, and (red radius) blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed:

28 Therefore God give thee of the (red radius) dew of heaven, and the (lunar crescent) fatness of the earth, and plenty of (solar golden) corn and (red radius) wine:

29 Let (Gemini) people serve thee, and (Gemini) nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy (Gemini) brethren, and let thy mother's (Gemini) sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac (Orion) had made an end of (red radius) blessing Jacob (Auriga), and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau (Castor) his brother came in from his (Castor) hunting.

31 And he also had made (solar golden) savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son's venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 And Isaac (Canis Major) his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau (Orion).

33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

34 And when Esau (Orion) heard the words of his father, he (red radius) cried with a great and exceeding bitter (red radius) cry, and said unto his (Canis Major) father, Bless me, even me also, O my father.

35 And he (Canis Major) said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36 And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?

he is not able to support his charge; for if he dealt fraudulently with any, it was with his father, and not with him, and the two times he refers to prove it not:

he took away my birthright; which is not true, he did not take it away from him either by force or fraud, Esau sold it to him for a mess of pottage, Genesis 25:29; he had despised and made light of it himself, and had parted with it at so mean a price, and now falsely charges his brother with taking it away from him, and wrongly accuses him of being a supplanter on that account:

and behold, now he hath taken away my blessing; this also is not true, he had not taken it away; it was given him by his father; and though he had used some artful methods with him to get it, Genesis 27:15, he had neither supplanted Esau, but if anyone, his father; nor had he done any injustice to Esau, since as he had bought of him the birthright, the blessing annexed to it went along with it, and of right belonged to Jacob:

37 And Isaac (Canis Major) answered and said unto Esau (Orion), Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his (Gemini) brethren have I given to him for (Gemini) servants; and with (solar golden) corn and (red radius) wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son?

38 And Esau (Orion) said unto his father (Big Dog), Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau (Orion) lifted up his voice, and (red radius) wept.

39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be (from) the fatness of the earth, and of (from) the dew of heaven from above;

“away from”; cf. 2 Samuel 1:22
"thy habitation shall be from the fatness of the earth, or without the fatness of the earth, and without the dew of heaven from above" ; or otherwise Esau would have the same blessing with Jacob, and so would have no occasion of complaint or grief, or to have hated his brother and sought his life; to which may be added, that the land of Edom, which Esau and his posterity inhabited, was a very desert country, see Malachi 1:3.

The land of Edom was rugged and mountainous; Esau will live by the sword, not by the fertility of the soil. the land of Edom, which Esau and his posterity inhabited, was a very desert country,

It is better to follow the margin, “away from”; cf. 2 Samuel 1:22. Isaac has really only one blessing; cf. Genesis 27:33. Esau’s future will not be as Jacob’s. His country in Mount Seir will not be rich and fertile, like the land of Canaan. His people will not be peaceful cultivators of the soil; they will dwell in the mountains, and get their livelihood as robbers. Edom will serve Israel; but only for a time. This is the climax of the prediction. In spite of hardships, in spite of social inferiority, and in spite of subjugation, Edom shall at last win freedom. According to this interpretation, Isaac’s words contain no soft blessing; but a stern, truthful, continuous prediction, describing (1) the barrenness and aridity of the soil of Edom, (2) the warlike temper of the people, (3) their subjugation to Israel, (4) their ultimate revolt and freedom.

The blessing of Jacob excludes the blessing of Esau; but does not shut out the hope of successful rebellion against the favoured brother. The play of words, produced by the different use of the same preposition, is what might be expected in the language of an ancient oracle; and is quite congenial to the genius of Heb. literature. For the oracular and different use of the same words, cf. Genesis 40:13; Genesis 40:19.

40 And by thy (lunar crescent) sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his (lunar crescent) yoke from off thy (solar) neck.

41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau (Orion) said in his heart, The days of (black sackcloth) mourning for my father are at hand; then will I (red radius) slay my brother Jacob.

42 And these words of Esau her elder son were told to Rebekah (Auriga): and she sent and called Jacob (Pollux) her younger son, and said unto him, Behold, thy brother Esau (Castor), as touching thee, doth comfort himself, purposing to kill thee.

43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice; arise, flee thou to Laban my (Gemini) brother to Haran;

her promise in Genesis 27:13, “upon me be thy curse, my son, only obey my voice.”And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away; a few days] Cf. Genesis 29:20, “but a few days,” in the sense of “a short time.” Rebekah’s plan was, in this respect, destined to be signally frustrated, cf. Genesis 29:30, Genesis 31:41. She was separated from her favourite son for over 20 years. perhaps Rebekah never saw him anymore, being dead before he returned; after this account, no more mention is made of her. Many of the troubles which Jacob underwent were inflicted on him due to this dishonesty. His long servitude, being detained in Mesopotamia, and his mother was prevented from the happiness of ever seeing him again, was a punishment on them both, but particularly on Rebekah who had a great affection for Jacob. She probably didn't live to see either him or his children. (see Gen. 49:31 which implies that Rebekah had died and was buried in absence of Jacob).

44 And tarry with him a few days, until thy brother's fury turn away;

45 Until thy brother's anger turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?

46 And Rebekah (Auriga) said to Isaac (Canis Major), I am weary of my life because of the (Gemini) daughters of Heth: if Jacob take a wife of the (Gemini) daughters of Heth, such as these which are of the (Gemini) daughters of the land, what good shall my life do me?

And Rebekah said to Isaac,.... Not what she had told Jacob concerning the enmity of Esau to Jacob, and his intention to kill him, lest it should grieve him, and bring his gray hairs with sorrow to the grave; but what follows, as an excuse to get Isaac's leave for Jacob's departure, concealing the true reason of it:
I am weary of my life because of the daughters of Heth; whom Esau had married,

Edomites In Prophecy

Isaac prophesied about Esau, "Behold, thy dwelling shall be ("far from" -- Bas) the fatness of the earth, and ("far from" --Bas) ... the dew of heaven above; And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck" (Gen. 27:37-40). Greece and Turkey lack most of the important industrial natural resources. Also Daniel 11:41 places "EDOM" in the Middle East.

Jasher 28:20 declares that “Esau was a designing and deceitful man, one who hunted after the hearts of men." Although Jasher is not a part of the sacred canon of Scripture, it is mentioned in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18 and it is referenced in 2 Timothy 3:8.

Throughout the Bible, the same theme plays out again and again: First in the form of ESAU versus Jacob. (Gen. 27:41). Then Moses and Joshua versus AMALEK, a grandson of Esau, in Rephidim (Ex. 17:8-16). Then AMALEK opposed Israel in Judges 3:13. Then Saul, son of Kish, versus Agag the AMALEKITE when Saul died (1 Sam. 15:9; 2 Sam. 1:8-10). EDOMITES next plundered Jerusalem (Obad. 10-14). Then Esther and Mordecai versus Haman the AGAGITE (Esther 3:1-6). Then as Herod the EDOMITE (Esau) (Ant. 14:1:3) versus Christ. Then PHARISEES versus Jesus. Then in the post-Biblical time frame, as the TURKISH CALIPHATE was known as the OTTOMAN EMPIRE which was actually named after TEMAN, grandson of Esau (Gen. 36:11). Part of Esau's land is called "land of Temani" (Gen. 36:34). Teman is located in Edom (Ez. 25:12-13). Then as "JEWS" who reject the New Testament and oppose our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be" (Eccl. 1:9).

Isaac’s wife Rebekah conceived fraternal twin sons: Esau whose name was changed to Edom, and Jacob whose name was changed to Israel. When it became apparent that this pregnancy was unusual, Rebekah inquired of Yahweh: "And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Yahweh. And Yahweh said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." (Genesis 25:22-23). These two brothers were wrestling for firstborn status: "And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them" (Genesis 25:24-26). Jacob held onto his twin brother Esau’s heel in a seeming attempt to prevent Esau from gaining the advantage of being firstborn. Although Jacob’s attempt was in vain, Yahweh’s will was not to be thwarted. He had promised Rebekah that the elder should serve the younger. Eventually, Jacob became the sole possessor of both the birthright and the blessing. This reversal of roles was not without conflict. Yahweh informed Rebekah that Esau and Jacob would invariably contend with one another and so would their descendants. This promise began to find its fulfillment soon after the two boys were grown. Esau foolishly sold his birthright to his younger brother Jacob for a meager bowl of red lentil stew, and their blind father unwittingly bestowed the blessing upon him as well. Had Rebekah not intervened on Jacob’s behalf, Esau would have killed him as result of his bitter jealousy:

"And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him" (Genesis 27:41).
The struggle between these two men, and subsequently between their descendants, continued to manifest itself in the Edomites’ hatred of the Israelites: "thou [Edom] hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed the blood of the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity" (Ezekiel 35:5).
"Edom … did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever" (Amos 1:11).

In The History of Israel, Heinrich Ewald described the Edomites’ hatred for the Israelites: "the Idumeans [Edomites] … were Israel’s most bitter foes when Jerusalem was destroyed (by the Babylonians)" (London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1874) Volume V, p. 80.).

Numbers 20 informs us that when the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness, the Edomites for no apparent reason refused to allow the Israelites to pass through their land. Approximately four hundred years later, King David would write about this inherent hatred: "Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee. The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen [helped] the children of Lot" (Psalm 83:1-8).

Fausett’s Bible Dictionary states that the reason for this concerted attack upon the Israelites involved the inheritance that the Edomites doubtless believed rightfully belonged to them as descendants of Isaac’s first born son Esau: Edom was also linked with Ammon and Moab in the desperate effort made to root out Israel from his divinely given inheritance … under Jehoshaphat [king of the house of Judah], as recorded in 2 Chron 20 (Ps. 83: 3-5, 12)….(“Edom, Idumea,” Fausset’s Bible Dictionary [Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing House, 1963] p. 185). 2 Chronicles 20:11 declares that Edom, Ammon and Moab had “come to cast … [the Israelites] out of thy possession, which … [Yahweh] hast given … [them] to inherit.” In 1 Samuel 15:1-3, Yahweh commanded King Saul to utterly destroy the descendants of Esau’s grandson Amalek. Saul disobeyed and ironically was later killed by one of the very Amalekites he spared (2 Samuel 1:2-10).

Haman

Approximately 400 years later, Haman, a descendant of Esau Edom through Amalek, intended to exterminate Mordecai and Esther, Saul’s descendants, along with the portion of the house of Judah that were captive in Persia. Haman’s hatred for the Judahites was so intense that he was willing to pay the Persian King Ahasuerus to see it accomplished: Haman sought to destroy all the Judahites that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai. "And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from all people; neither keep they the king’s laws: therefore it is not for the king’s profit to suffer them. If it please the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed: and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those that have the charge of the business, to bring it into the king’s treasuries". (Esther 3:6-9).

*Esther was a cousin of Mordecai who was a descendant of Kish (Esther 2:5-7). According to 1 Samuel 9:1-2, Kish was the father of King Saul. Esther was a Benjamite, and Saul was the only Benjamite to ever reign over Israel. Therefore, Esther would have been of Saul’s royal lineage. Flavius Josephus relates that Esther “was herself of the royal family.” Flavius Josephus, “The Antiquities of the Jews,” Josephus (Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications, 1960) Book XI, Chapter VI, Verse 1, p. 237.)

By Yahweh’s providence, Haman did not succeed in his genocidal plot, and he was hanged from the very gallows that he had built for Mordecai. The ensuing conflict killed many Edomites and many others claimed to be Judahites in an effort to preserve their lives: "And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Judahites had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Judahites; for the fear of the Judahites fell upon them" (Esther 8:17).

Doeg

1 Samuel 22 records that Doeg the Edomite slaughtered Ahimelech and other Levitical priests when Saul’s servants refused to take part in the bloody deed. The Talmud, Sanhedrin 69b, states that Doeg "is regarded by the rabbis as the greatest scholar of his time”(“Doeg,” The Jewish Encyclopedia (New York, NY: Funk and Wagnalls Company, 1905) Volume IV, p. 630).

King David, on the other hand, described Doeg as having character traits similar to those of his progenitor Esau: "Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp rasor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Thou lovest all devouring words" (Psalm 52:2-4).

Ezekiel 25:12 states that “Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them.” Obadiah 1:10-14 declares that Edom “rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Thou … entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou … looked on their affliction … [and] laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity … [and] cut off those of his that did escape … [and] delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.” The Apocryphal book of 1 Maccabees records the Edomites’ desire to destroy the Israelites: "they thought to destroy the generation of Jacob that was among them, and thereupon they began to slay and destroy the people. Then Judas [Maccabaeus] fought against the children of Esau in Idumea at Arabattine, because they besieged Israel" (1 Maccabees 5:2-3)

Herod

King Herod the Great exhibited the same wicked trait as did his Edomite progenitors. Matthew 2:16 relates that he was so intent on killing the infant Yeshua (Jesus’ given Hebrew name) that He murdered all Judahite boys two years of age and under in Bethlehem and the surrounding territory.Bible dictionaries document that Herod was of Edomite descent: The Herodian dynasty made its way into Palestine through Antipater, an Idumean by descent. The Idumeans were of Edomite stock as descendants of Esau. Antipater was installed as procurator of Judea by Julius Caesar, the emperor of Rome, in 47 B.C. He appointed two of his sons to ruling positions. One of these was Herod, known as “Herod the Great,” who was appointed governor of Judea. (“Herod,” Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary [Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1995] p. 559). Although Herod directed his murderous act principally against Yeshua, this was yet another instance when Edom’s “perpetual hatred” was unleashed upon Israelites.

"Edom is in modern Jewry"

These are only a few instances where biblical and secular history cite Edom’s perpetual hatred toward Israelites. But who did these Edomites become? Just as the Israelites assumed new identities, so did the Edomites. Each of the following Jewish witnesses testifies to the Edomites’ new identity:

"in the days of John Hyrcanus (end of the second century B.C.E.), the Edomites became a section of the Jewish people". [“Edom,” Encyclopaedia Judaica (Jerusalem, Israel: Encyclopaedia Judaica Company, 1971) Volume 6, p. 378].

"They were then incorporated with the Jewish nation" [“Edom, Idumea,” The Jewish Encyclopedia (New York & London: Funk and Wagnalls Company, 1904) Volume V, p. 41].

"from then on they constituted a part of the Jewish people, Herod being one of their descendants" [“Edom (Idumea),” The New Standard Jewish Encyclopedia (Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1977) p. 589].

"they were hereafter no other than Jews" [in name]. [Flavius Josephus, “The Antiquities of the Jews” Josephus (Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications, 1960) Book XIII, Chapter IX, Verse 1, p. 279].

The Jewish Encyclopedia tells us that "Edom is in Modern Jewry" (1925 ed. 5:41). This witness from the 1905 edition records the connection between modern day Jews and the race of Edom: "Some anthropologists are inclined to associate the racial origins of the Jews, not with the Semites, whose language they adopted, but with the Armenians and Hittites of Mesopotamia, whose broad skulls and curved noses they appear to have inherited (Vol. X, p. 284). Thus Esau/Edom was now absorbed into the Canaanite people by means of his Hittite and Hivite wives.

Many IDUMIANS were forced to become "Jews" (Ant.13:9:1) by Hyrcanus in 125 B.C. "EDOM is in modern Jewry" (Jewish Encyc. 5:41). "They say they are Jews and are not" (Rev. 2:9). Josephus indicates that the Pharisees and Saducees were NOT Jews by birth. Only the Essenes were hereditary Jews (Wars 2:8:2).

If they were EDOMITES it might explain why Jesus criticized the Pharisees and Saduccees so severely (Matt. 23, etc.). The Pharisees said to Jesus, "We are Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man" (John 8:33). Yet, Israelites, who are Abraham's seed, had a long history of bondage in Egypt, Assyria and Babylon. Therefore, the Pharisees were the other branch of Abraham's seed in Palestine at the time -- EDOMITES. Christ called the Pharisees and Saduccees "a wicked and adulterous generation" (Greek "genea" meaning "race") (Matt. 16:1-4; 12:38-41). Herod the EDOMITE (Ant. 14:1:3; 14:7:3) murdered many true Jewish children (Matt. 2:16). During the Roman seige of Jerusalem the IDUMEANS massacred many hereditary Jews shut up in the city (Wars 4:5:12). Were EDOMITE "Jews" the ones who murdered the Messiah and then said "His blood be on us, and on our children" (Matt. 27:25)? The "Jews" who sought to kill Christ said, "We are not born of fornication" (John 8:41). Therefore, if they were speaking nationally rather than individually, they could not have been descended from Zarah or Pharez Judah since both brothers WERE born of fornication through Tamar (Gen. 38:2-5). They were NOT even ISRAELITE since Jesus said to the "Jews," "Ye believe not, because ye are NOT of MY SHEEP" (John 10:24). SHEEP are ISRAELITES (Isa. 53:6; Jer. 50:6). Were they also the ones who later blasphemed Jesus in the Talmud (Shabbath 104b; SanHedrin 107b; etc.)? Real Jews would not treat their Messiah this way. This might also explain the phenomenon of "anti-Semitism" if these "Jews" were really EDOMITES under a curse. The curse is, "I will make thee (EDOM) small among the heathen, and despised among men" (Jer. 49:15).

A remnant of Judah, Benjamin and Levi, around 40,000 of those people taken captive in Babylon, returned 70 years later to rebuild the walls and temple of Jerusalem. But there was a multitude of Edomites already occupying that territory. Flavus Josephus, a Judahite historian and a military general of priestly and royal descent who lived from 37 A.D., to 100 A.D., confirms Edomite occupation in southern Judea. “That country is also called Judea, and the people Jews; and this name is given also to as many as embrace their religion (Judaism), though of other nations. But then upon what foundation so good a governor as Hyrcanus (grandson of Mattathias patriarch of the Maccabees, a family of Judahite patriots of 2nd and 1st centuries B.C.) Took upon himself to compel these Idumeans (Edomites) either to become Jews or to leave their country, deserves great consideration. I suppose it was because they had long ago been driven out of the land of Edom, and had SEIZED ON AND POSSESSED the tribe of SIMEON (their land not the people), and ALL THE SOUTHERN PART of the tribe of JUDAH, which was the peculiar inheritance of the the worshippers of the true God without idolatry”
(Ant. 14:8:1).

“But Benjamin couldn’t just move up to the north a little bit, because north of them was Samaria. Both Isaiah and Kings and Chronicles tell you that when the Assyrians captured the northern kingdom of Israel and deported all its people, they brought other people from Assyria and settled them in Samaria. Now it purposely failed to say they settled anybody in Galilee, the northern most portion; because they didn’t, they left it vacant. Now the Benjamites were pushed to the north by the Judahites, as they returned after the captivity. They just couldn’t move up into Samaria: that was fully settled. So they had to leap-frog over Samaria to the vacant Galilee, to the north of that.

“Now remember, up in Galilee was Christ’s own home town of Nazareth. He was born in Bethlehem, down close to Jerusalem, but his family home was up in Nazareth. You remember He got nearly all of his converts up in Galilee; and of the twelve disciples only Judas was a Jew. Your Bible calls him Judas Iscariot: and there is no such word as “Iscariot” in any language know the man. It is a corruption of the Hebrew word “Ish Kerioth,” meaning, a man of Kerioth, and Kerioth is a little village down in the southwesterly portion of Judea, down in the territory occupied by the Edomites. So Judas was an Edomite Jew, and he was the only Jew of the twelve. The other eleven were all Galileans, therefore, Benjaminites.

The Jews claimed to be the children of Abraham, however that they were not true children of Abraham is certain when they say that they were never in bondage (John 8:32-33). They were Esau's branch, not Jacob's. Beginning with John 8:37 Yahshua says: I know that ye are Abraham’s seed (Esau was a direct descendant of Abraham, but he was hated by Yahweh, but he was not recognized as a child of Abraham); but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. He knew these racially mixed Edomites had some Israelite heritage going back to Abraham. But in verses 38 and 44 Yahshua tells explicitly that they are of their father the devil. It was a member of the Edomite progeny who first sought to kill our Lord. Matthew 2:16 records how Herod the Idumean (Edomite) had all the Israelite children two years and younger slain that in so doing he might also kill the baby Messiah. Jesus would not live in Judea, "for fear of the Jews" (John 7:1).

It is also worth repeating that Yahweh warned that non-Israelites would pose as Israelites: "I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Judahites, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan". (Revelation 2:9). "Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Judahites, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee" (Revelations 3:9).

Siege of Jerusalem

Edomite enmity was also exhibited during the siege of Jerusalem in 70 AD when they entered the besieged city with the Roman Emperor Titus: "Just before the siege under Titus 20,000 Idumeans were admitted into Jerusalem and filled it with bloodshed and rapine". [“Edom, Idumea,” Fausset’s Bible Dictionary (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing House, 1963) p. 185]. "nor did the Idumeans spare anybody; for as they are naturally a barbarous and bloody nation. And now the outer temple was all of it overflowed with blood; and that day, as it came on, saw eight thousand five hundred dead bodies there. But the rage of the Idumeans was not satiated by these slaughters, but they now betook themselves to the city, and plundered every house, and slew every one they met … they sought for the high priests … and as soon as they caught them they slew them…. Now after these were slain, the zealots and the multitude of the Idumeans fell upon the people as upon a flock of profane animals, and cut their throats; and, for the ordinary sort, they were destroyed in what place soever they caught them". [Flavius Josephus, “The Wars of the Jews,” Josephus (Grand Rapids, MI: Kregel Publications, 1960) Book IV, Chapter V, Verse 1-3, p. 534].

Khazars

The 1925 edition of The Jewish Encyclopedia (Vol. 15, p. 292) has this to say about the Khazars: "CHAZARS: a people of Turkish origin whose life and history is interwoven with the very beginnings of the history of the Jews in Russia." Before it became politically incorrect to discuss such things, the 1952 edition of the American People's Encyclopedia says of the Khazar/Mongol/Turk connection to the Jews: "In the year 740 the Khazars were officially converted to Judaism. A century later they were cursed by the incoming Slavic-speaking people and scattered over central Europe where they were known as Jews".

During the time that the Israelites became known as gentiles, the Edomites became known as Judahites, or Jews, as they are called today. With this name, the Edomites have laid claim to both the birthright and blessings lost to their brethren by their progenitor Esau. The Jews today are not descended from Jacob Israel, but from the Edomites and Khazars. They assumed the name “Jew” at the times of Esther, John Hyrcanus and King Bulan.

The Talmud

The innate morality of today’s Jews also testifies that they are not Israelites. When Rebekah was pregnant with Esau and Jacob, Yahweh informed her that two manner of people were within her.

A comparison of the Talmud, the religious book of today’s Edomite Jews, with the Holy Bible, the religious book of today’s Israelite Christians and Jews, bears out this disparity in ethics.

[Charles Weisman, Who is Esau-Edom? (Burnsville, MN: Weisman Publications, 1991) p. 50].
Although many Christians believe contemporary Judaism derives its beliefs from the Old Testament, many Jews admit otherwise. Consider carefully the following Jewish testimonies regarding the source of their morals and values:

Arsene Darmesteter, 1897

"The Talmud … represents the uninterrupted work of Judaism … it is the faithful mirror of the manners, the institutions, the knowledge of the Jews, in a word of the whole of their civilization…. Nothing, indeed, can equal the importance of the Talmud" [Arsene Darmesteter, The Talmud, translated from French by Henrietta Szold (Philadelphia, PA: The Jewish Publication Society of America, 1897) p. 7].

"Judaism finds its expression in the Talmud…. The study of Judaism is that of the Talmud, as the study of the Talmud is that of Judaism…. They are two inseparable things, or better, they are one and the same" [Darmesteter, pp. 60-61].

Rabbi Morris Kertzer, 1952

"The Talmud consists of 63 books of legal, ethical and historical writings of the ancient rabbis…. It is a compendium of law and lore. It is the legal code which forms the basis of Jewish religious law and it is the textbook used in the training of rabbis". [Rabbi Morris Norman Kertzer, “What is a Jew?,” quoted in Look Magazine, 17 June 1952, p. 123].

Dr. Benjamin Freedman, 1954

"The Talmud today virtually exercises totalitarian dictatorship over the lives of so-called or self-styled “Jews” whether they are aware of that fact or not" .[Benjamin H. Freedman, letter to Dr. David Goldstein, L.L.D., October 10, 1954, Facts Are Facts (New York, NY: Benjamin H. Freedman, 1955) p. 26].

"Just as the Talmud is the “textbook by which rabbis are trained,” so is the Talmud also the textbook by which the rank and file of the so-called, or self-styled, Jews are trained to think from their earliest age" [Freedman, p. 43].

Herman Wouk, 1959

"The Talmud … is to this day the circulating heart’s blood of the Jewish religion. Whatever laws, customs, or ceremonies we observe - whether we are Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or merely spasmodic sentimentalists - we follow The Talmud. It is our common law" [Herman Wouk, This Is My God: The Jewish Way of Life (Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1959) p. 200].

Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, 1976

"the Talmud is the central pillar [of Judaism], soaring up from the foundations and supporting the entire spiritual and intellectual edifice. In many ways the Talmud is the most important book in Jewish culture, the backbone of creativity and the national life. No other work has had a comparable influence on the theory and practice of Jewish life, shaping spiritual content and serving as a guide to conduct". [Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, The Essential Talmud (New York, NY: Basic Books, Inc., Publishers, 1976) p. 3].

In his book A Rabbi Talks with Jesus, Rabbi Jacob Neusner admitted to the dissimilarity of the Jew’s morality derived from the Talmud and that of Christians who follow the teachings of Yeshua the Christ: "[Yeshua’s] way so radically differs from my way, it is clear we are hearing different voices from Sinai" [Rabbi Jacob Neusner, quoted by Matthew Scully in “Face the Nation,” National Review, 9 August 1993, p. 62].

This is because the Jews’ religion does not originate from Sinai, but from Babylon: "The beginnings of Talmudic literature date back to the time of the Babylonian Exile in the sixth pre-Christian century, before the Roman Republic had yet come into existence". [Chief Rabbi Joseph Herman Hertz, foreword to the first edition, The Babylonian Talmud (London, England: The Soncino Press, 1935) p. xiii].

"Its birthplace, Babylonia, was an autonomous Jewish centre for a longer period than any other land; namely, from soon after 586 before the Christian era to the year 1040 after the Christian era – 1626 years; from the days of Cyrus [king of Babylon] down to the age of the Mongol conquerors!" [Hertz, p. xxi].

Jewish author Maurice Samuel, in his book You Gentiles, provided yet further witness to the differences between today’s Edomite-Khazar Jews and today’s Celto-Saxon Israelites: I have said, “There are two life-forces in the world I know: Jewish and gentile, ours and yours.” …What their origin was I cannot say. …I can only affirm - to the Jews, in the main, belongs the Jewish life-force, a consistent and coherent force, a direction in human thought and reaction. To you others belongs the gentile life-force, a mode of life and thought distinct from ours…. We have lived for many centuries in close contiguity, if not intimacy…. Yet the cleavage is there, abysmal and undeniable. In the main, we are forever distinct. Ours is one life, yours is another…. I do not believe that this primal difference between gentile and Jew is reconcilable…. There will be irritation between us as long as we are in intimate contact. For nature and constitution and vision divide us from all of you forever…. With the best will on both sides, successful adaptation to each other will always be insecure and transient…. But, as has come to pass so often, the difference which is deeper than will, deeper than consciousness, will assert itself.". [Maurice Samuel, You Gentiles (New York, NY: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1924) pp. 95-96].

Yahweh informed Rebekah that “two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels.” These two “life-forces” that Samuel wondered about are easily understood from a biblical perspective, especially when the two parties are identified correctly. Samuel continued his insightful observations concerning the differences between these two peoples, their laws and their morality: "your system of morality is no less a need to you than ours to us. And the incompatibility of the two systems is not passive. You might say: “Well, let us exist side by side and tolerate each other. We will not attack your morality, nor you ours.” But the misfortune is that the two are not merely different. They are opposed in mortal, though tacit, enmity. No man can accept both, or, accepting either, do otherwise than despise the other. …the preferences and aversions which I here express will at least serve to make clear the irreconcilable difference between Jewish and gentile morality" (Samuel, p. 96).

"The Jewish radical … will discover that nothing can bridge the gulf between you and us…. We, Jews, we, the destroyers, will remain the destroyers forever. Nothing that you will do will meet our needs and demands. We will forever destroy because we need a world of our own" (Samuel, pp. 154-155).

Keeping in mind Yahweh’s prophecy to Rebekah and the prophecies of Ezekiel and Amos regarding the Edomite’s everlasting hatred of Israelites, it is evident that some of today’s Edomites are still intent on fulfilling these prophecies. It is commonly believed that the Jews or Israelis are allies of America and other Christian nations. In some ways they are. But Benjamin Freedman, a Jew, tried to alert Christians to their avowed enemies: There is "a conspiracy to destroy Christian civilization. The world-wide plot of these diabolical conspirators has been implemented while most Christians have been asleep. The Christian clergy seem to be more ignorant and indifferent to this plot than other Christians. They seem to bury their heads in the sands of indifference and ignorance like the legendary ostrich. This ignorance and indifference has dealt a severe blow to the Christian faith…. The confusion … is unwarranted and unjustified. It need not exist. It would not exist if the Christian clergy did not aid and abet the deceptions responsible for it. The Christian clergy may be shocked to learn that they have been aiding and abetting the dedicated enemies of the Christian faith. Many of the Christian clergy are actually their allies but may not know it". (Freedman, pp. 7-9).

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). Tragically, many Christians do not know either who they are or who their enemies are. Even worse, they do often not even understand that they have enemies. Because many Christians have misidentified themselves and failed to recognize the existence of an enemy dedicated to destroying the Christian faith, they have become bedfellows with those who would destroy them and their religion. Many Jews testify to this plot against Christianity:

Rabbi Reichhorn, 1869
Every hundred years, We, the sages of Israel [Talmudic Judaism] … meet in Sanhedrin in order to examine our progress towards the domination of the world … and our conquests over the enemy – Christianity. . [Rabbi Reichhorn, “Funeral Oration for Grand Rabbi Simeon-ben-Ihuda” (1869), published in La Vielle France, 10 March 1921 and Libre Parole, 27 November 1933, quoted in The Liberty Bell, 29 March 1983, p. 29].

Bernard Lazare, 1903

"They are the enemies of God and Jesus Christ … in their daily prayers they curse the Savior under the name of the Nazarene; they build new synagogues as if to insult the Christian religion…. In brief, “there is no wickedness in the world which the Jews are not guilty of, so that they seem to aim at nothing but the Christians’ ruin.”. [Bernard Lazare, Antisemitism: Its History and Causes (New York, NY: The International Library Publishing Company, 1903) Volume II, pp. 164-165].

"The Jews did not stop there…. Their activity was such as to give rise to … the existence of a secret society sworn to the destruction of Christianity". [Lazare, p. 302].

"attacking all dogmas and forms of Christianity with a bitterness entirely Judaic" [Lazare, p. 306].

"The Jew … is not content merely to destroy Christianity, but he preaches the gospel of Judaism…. He is engaged in his historic mission, the annihilation of the religion of Christ" [Lazare, pp. 319-320].

Benjamin Disraeli, 1905

"[the Jews] touch the hand of all the scum and low castes of Europe! And all this because they wish to destroy that ungrateful Christendom" [Benjamin Disraeli, Lord George Bentinck: A Political Biography (London, England: Archibald Constable and Company Limited, 1905) p. 324. Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) was the first and only Jew to be Prime Minister of England (1868, 1874-1880)].

Israel Shahak, 1994

"Judaism is imbued with a very deep hatred towards Christianity…. The very name “Jesus” was for Jews a symbol of all that is abominable, and this popular tradition still persists" [Israel Shahak, Jewish History, Jewish Religion: The Weight of Three Thousand Years (Brooklyn, NY: Baruch Spinoza Press, 1994) pp. 97-98].

This plot against Christianity revealed itself again in 2004 when many Jewish organizations attacked Mel Gibson’s movie The Passion of the Christ.
Jewish attacks upon Christians and Christianity come in various forms – religion, politics, the legal system, the arts, Hollywood, the media and war - to name a few. In his book The International Jew, Henry Ford, Sr., founder of the Ford Motor Company and owner of The Dearborn Independent newspaper, boldly declared the truth:
"There is a religious prejudice in this country, there is, indeed, a religious persecution, there is a forcible shoving aside of the religious liberties of a majority of the people, and this prejudice and persecution and use of force is Jewish and nothing but Jewish". [Henry Ford Sr., The International Jew: The World’s Foremost Problem (Dearborn, MI: The Dearborn Publishing Company, 1922) p. 43, reprinted from a series of articles appearing originally in the The Dearborn Independent, 22 May 1920 through 2 October 1920].

Because Esau lost the birthright and the blessing to Jacob, it seems innate for Esau’s descendants to do whatever it takes, including masquerading as Israel, to steal these blessings back from Yahweh’s intended heirs. In Genesis 28:40 Isaac told his son Esau that “when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his [Jacob Israel’s] yoke from off thy neck.” With this prophecy in mind, consider very carefully the implication of the following passages. Ezekiel 35:10-12 records how the Edomites had proclaimed that “these two nations and these two countries [the two houses of Israel and their respective lands] shall be mine, and we will possess it” and that “the mountains of Israel … are laid desolate” and “given us to consume.” Ezekiel 36:2, 5 foretell that Idumea, or Edom, would claim “the ancient high places are ours in possession” and that they had “appointed my [Yahweh’s] land [of Judea, modern-day Palestine] into their possession.” Malachi 1:4 states that Edom would “return and rebuild the desolate places.” In Isaiah 49:14-19, the desolate places are identified with Zion or Jerusalem and its surrounding region. A case could be made that King Herod helped to fulfill these prophecies, even though they were principally fulfilled as a consequence of the Edomites assisting Emperor Titus in sacking Jerusalem in 70 AD. There also appears to have been a secondary fulfillment, as there often is with prophecy, when Jews immigrated to the land of Israel in 1948. Remember Yahweh is sovereign and all things happen according to His divine plan. In other words, according to this interpretation, the relocation of the Edomite Jews to the land of Israel in 1948 has nothing to do with prophecies concerning Israelites. The Edomite Jewish settlement of the Holy Land fulfills Ezekiel’s and Malachi’s prophecies that the Edomites would one day take over Jerusalem and its surrounding area and rebuild the desolate places.

The eschatology of many Christian churches and ministries is based upon the belief that the Jews’ migration to the Holy Land is fulfillment of prophecy about Israelites, and that belief is valid for the Israelite Jews. But there is an alternate explanation for Edomite Jewry. Since 1948 American taxpayers and Christian ministries have sent billions of dollars to assist the Zionist State of Israel. But to be blessed for blessing these Jews, as many modern-day preachers claim, America must support only the Israelite Jews who follow the Bible, not the Edomite Jews who follow Talmud. Consider the record. Since 1948 and the formation of the State of Israel, America has declined socially, politically, economically, educationally, spiritually and morally. There has been a case of mistaken identity. Although the Edomites appear to be fulfilling Isaac’s blessing that they would break Jacob’s yoke from their neck and regain dominion (Genesis 27:40), later prophecies assure us that the Edomites will not always have the upper hand:

Thus saith the Lord Yahweh; Because that Edom hath dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and hath greatly offended, and revenged himself upon them; therefore thus saith the Lord Yahweh; I will also stretch out mine hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and they of Dedan shall fall by the sword. And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall do in Edom according to mine anger and according to my fury; and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord Yahweh. - Ezekiel 25:12-14. Thus saith the Lord Yahweh; … I will make thee desolate. As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am Yahweh. - Ezekiel 35:14-15. Thus saith the Lord Yahweh concerning Edom…. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith Yahweh…. How are the things of Esau searched out! How are his hidden things sought up! …For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. In the day that thou … entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them. …as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head…. - Obadiah 1:1-15. Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith Yahweh of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, the people against whom Yahweh hath indignation for ever. And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, Yahweh will be magnified from the border of Israel. - Malachi 1:4-5
